The brief to provide additional accommodation and to renovate and modernise the front and rear elevations of the house, led us to a contemporary design that also brings a new life to the existing 1970′s dwelling.
At ground floor the additional accommodation simply extends the existing room to provide an enlarged family living space that can now fully “open up” onto the garden. Whilst at first floor we are extending a bedroom to create an enlarged master bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The asymmetrical design to the rear reflects the new character of the house with emphasis given to the master bedroom, but it also allows us to control the amount of light in and views out, providing both that privacy is maintained and prevents overlooking of the neighbouring properties. It is worth noting that the extension is relatively shallow at only 2.4m deep.
