A few years ago we were asked to remodel the roof to create a new master bedroom, ensuite shower room and roof terrace carved out from within the shell of a spit level loft space. We were pleased to be recently asked back to reorganise the lower ground floor.

The concept was to create an open plan kitchen / dining area that fully opens up onto the courtyard garden beyond. There were a number of structural challenges, not least the need to support the 3 storeys of the existing house above whilst we removed all the rear walls of the existing house at ground level to create the open plan space and frame for the full width folding sliding doors.

A frameless glass roof over the extension returns with a mitred corner back to the original house. This required exacting tolerances, as did the white resin floor, which continues externally to create a smooth and seamless finish between inside and out.

Status: Project completed.
