This proposal is for the replacement of a detached bungalow on a prominent corner site located near Winchester.

The concept seeks to preserve the broader character of the area whilst creating 3 dwellings that respond to the site characteristics but also provides generous contemporary living accommodation.

The buildings and their appearance have been considered as a whole and how they sit together within their setting. Each house responds to its location / orientation, whilst avoiding any overlooking of the neighbouring dwellings and reducing their scale.

As the site is sloping to the west, the entrance of the detached house is located at landing level, with the ground floor cut into the slope to ensure level access onto the garden, also reducing  the scale of the proposed dwelling from the road and is comparable to the neighbouring bungalows.

The roof and gables will be cladded in traditional natural slate, whereas the “body” of the houses are brick, common for the area.
