The project was for a 2 storey side extension to this 1930′s detached house located on a corner plot.
The design focused on a staggered plan that allows southern light to penetrate into the new rooms while still allowing them to “open up” onto the rear garden of the house.
The plan is “broken down” and expressed as a series of copper wraps that extend up and over, separated by strips of clear glazing. These are sat ontop of a new timber clad garage to the front, which along with the single storey extension to the rear, helps to further articulate the scale and mass of the proposal.
The design takes practical requirements as a basis for this exciting contemporary proposal.
Status: Concept design.
