Our brief for this 1980′s house set in a countryside location, was to provide an additional double garage, some further living space and to refurbish the main house.
We sought to use this opportunity to refocus the house, so it responds to its location and reduces its energy consumption. The design centres around 2 key moves:
The formation of 4 large “frames” along the south elevation, opening the main rooms up to the surrounding landscape.
The overcladding of the main house creates a unified “barn like” appearance, improves the level of insulation and the proportions of the original house.
The project combines the use of natural recyclable materials, along with renewable energy technologies to create an exciting, modern family home.

Status: Project on site.
